Bored, he escapes with his sister and some companions. They travel the world searching for happiness, but eventually realize that while pursuing happiness is a necessary endeavor, obtaining it is something else altogether.

Samuel Johnson (1709–1784) was an English essayist, critic, and poet. He was his century’s leading man of letters and one of England’s greatest literary personalities. The completion of his landmark Dictionary of the English Language in 1755 made his reputation, if not his fortune.
