Sangui Wang is a professor and a doctoral tutor with the School of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Renmin University of China, director of the China Anti-Poverty Research Institute of the Renmin University of China, expert enjoying the special government allowances of the State Council, distinguished expert of the CPPCC National Committee Talent Pool, and consultant expert of Word Bank, UNDP, and other international organizations.
His main research area is poverty and rural development. He has led several major national social science projects. He has published 18 academic books on poverty and more than 180 academic papers. He was awarded the First Prize of the 8th Outstanding Achievement Award of Scientific Research in Universities and Colleges, the Fourth and Ninth China Rural Development Research Award, and the First “You Change Poverty Alleviation Research Achievement Award” of the State Council Poverty Alleviation Office. He has been recognized by the State Council Leading Group for Poverty Alleviation in China as a model individual in poverty alleviation and development.
