L’auteur, André LANGEVIN (1901-1977), était le deuxième filsde Paul Langevin et de sa femme Jeanne Desfosses. Il fut étudiant en physique àl’École Supérieure de Physique et Chimie Industrielle où il devint chef detravaux en électricité appliquée en 1938. Il était marié à Luce Dubus, physicienne et militante communiste, qui l’aida à rédiger cette biographie. Ilpublie sur la piézoélectricité et la pétrographie, obtenant son doctorat en1942. Pendant l’après-guerre, il est actif au sein de l’Union nationale deschercheurs scientifiques et de la Fédération nationale de l’éducation. La biographie de son père a été écrite après sa retraite en 1965.
