Gary Soto, poet and essayist, is author of forty books, including Living Up the Street, A Summer Life, Jesse, New and Selected Poems, and Buried Onions. He has received fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Guggenheim Foundation. In 1995, NBC featured him as “Person of the Week” for his advocacy for reading. His books have sold five million copies and have been translated into five languages. The Gary Soto Literary Museum is located at Fresno City College, where he began writing poetry in spring 1972.
