‘The Sea-Wolf’ It's an adventure novel with psychological undertones, considered by many to be his best work. The protagonist, Humphrey van Weyden, is a literary critic and survivor of a shipwreck who finds himself under the dominion of Wolf Larsen, the powerful and amoral sea captain who rescued him. The strong tension and emotion of the narrative revolve around Larsen aboard the ship ‘Ghost.’ ‘The Sea-Wolf’ was published in 1904, the year following the publication of ‘The Call of the Wild, ‘ which had showcased the young writer Jack London's talent, making him famous. The first edition of ‘The Sea-Wolf’ sold out as soon as it hit the shelves, and its success continues to this day. It's a ‘must-read, ‘ especially for readers who enjoy a good adventure.

A propos de l’auteur

Jack London, whose birth name is John Griffith Chaney, was born in San Francisco, United States, in 1876, the son of an astrologer and a music teacher. London had a brief but intensely lived existence and wrote about what he experienced. His books feature three distinct settings: the most celebrated being the gold rush in Alaska, followed by the still stunning islands of the South Pacific, and finally the socialist (and communist) political and social space of late 19th and early 20th century America. In these three settings, Jack London experienced the deepest emotions, faced the deadliest risks, and fought the hardest battles. Indeed, he had much to recount and did so intensely, leaving behind numerous works. Explore his main works through the ‘Jack London Collection’ from Le Books Publisher.
