JANICE PARIAT wurde in Jorhat im indischen Bundesstaat Assam geboren. Sie hat Englische Literatur in Delhi und in London Kunstgeschichte studiert.
2010 gründete sie das Online- Literaturmagazin Pyrta. Für ihren ersten Erzählband Boats on Land und für ihren Debütroman Seahorse wurde sie mit mehreren Preisen ausgezeichnet. Nach längeren Aufenthalten in England und Italien lehrt sie in Neu Dehli Kunst- geschichte und Kreatives Schreiben.
Ein Herz mit neun Kammern ist ihr zweiter Roman und wurde in sechs Sprachen übersetzt.
