The author received his B.S. Degree in Mathematics from Western Illinois University, Macomb, Illinois. He completed courses in Industrial Arts qualifying him for a double major. The author was first a high school mathematics teacher then worked in the auto industry for four decades beginning with the Chevrolet Division of General Motors. His work history included Chrysler Corporation, Ford Motor Company and many smaller businesses including Firestone, General Dynamics, and Massey Ferguson. He was nominated by his peers and elected a Fellow in the American Society for Quality. The automotive industry afforded this author the opportunity to become involved with the manufacturing processes used to produce most, if not all, components used in the assembly of automobiles. Some people of note who influenced the author’s life include Roger S. Firestone, Semen E. “Bunkie” Knudsen, Elliot M. “Pete” Estes and Howard H. Kehrl.
