Pavel Propastin, born in 1970 in Kazakhstan, studied geography and wrote his Ph D thesis at the Georg-August-University in Göttingen. He is a research scientist in the Cartography, GIS and Remote Sensing Department at this university. His main research activities focus on the integration of Remote Sensing and GIS in studies on climate dynamics and their impacts on the vegetation cover in Central Asia and Indonesia.
