Alejandro Cortazar is Associate Professor of Latin American Literature and Culture at Louisiana State University, USA. His research examines issues of emancipation, nationhood, and ethnic and cultural identity formation. He is the author of Reforma, novela y nación: México en el siglo XIX (2006), « Priests and Caudillos in the Novel of the Mexican Nation » (2007), and many other works on 19th- and 20th-century Hispanic America.Rafael Orozco is Assistant Professor of Spanish Linguistics at Louisiana State University, USA. His research explores language variation and change in Colombian Spanish. He is co-editor of Colombian Varieties of Spanish (forthcoming). His articles have appeared in Revista Internacional de Lingüística Iberoamericana (RILI), Spanish in Context, and Lingüística as well as in several edited collections.
