Bernard F. Reilly (1925–2021) was Professor Emeritus of History at Villanova University. He was the author of many books, including The Kingdom of León-Castilla Under King Alfonso VII, 1126–1157, also available from the University of Pennsylvania Press.Simon R. Doubleday is Professor of History at Hofstra University. His most recent book is a biography of the Spanish ruler Alfonso X (1252–84), The Wise King: A Christian Prince, Muslim Spain, and the Birth of the Renaissance.
