How did the way people looked at music affect the interactions among different groups and individuals in the course of the 20th century? This volume presents a number of case examples from various musical genres and thus offers many insights into both general and genre-specific figurations of musical communication. This ranges from direct live acts to political productions, which cause inclusive and exclusive mechanisms to become active in communication processes taking place at various levels. The contributions to this volume show how, and why, opportunities for communication arise during musical activities which can lead to either complete harmony or fierce dissonance.
A propos de l’auteur
PD Dr. Martin Rempe ist Historiker und Privatdozent an der Universität Konstanz. Er forscht, lehrt und schreibt zur deutschen, europäischen und afrikanischen Geschichte im 19. und 20. Jahrhundert. Im Wintersemester 2018/19 vertrat er die Professur für Außereuropäische Geschichte an der Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg. Rempe hat Geschichte, Politikwissenschaft und Europarecht an den Berliner Universitäten und an der Université Marc Bloch Strasbourg studiert. Er promovierte an der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin und ging danach als akademischer Mitarbeiter an den Arbeitsbereich für Neuere und Neueste Geschichte der Universität Konstanz, wo er auch habilitierte. Im Studienjahr 2015/16 war Rempe als Visiting Scholar am History Department der Vanderbilt University zu Gast.
