A propos de l´auteur Walter Smith est né et grandit à Durham, Caroline du Nord, où il est étudiant à l´université « North Carolina Central University » avec spécialisation en Français. Il y est membre du Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity. Après son diplôme, il se rend à New York City. Il y enseigne le Français et l´Espagnol dans les écoles publiques pendant quelques années. Puis il se rend au Canada et suit des cours à l´École Supérieure « Laval University » de Québec. Il écrit quelques nouvelles et déménage à Los Angeles, pour essayer d´écrire pour la télévision. Après juste neuf mois, il a la chance d´obtenir la mission d´écrire un épisode pour l´émission populaire « Good Times ». Pendant les années qui suivent, il écrit une histoire pour le sit-com (comédie de situation) intitulée « Different Strokes », qui sera nommée au Prix Humanitas, et plus tard, une histoire pour « Magnum P.I ». Il est membre du Writers Guild of America (syndicat des Scénaristes d´Amérique, wikipedia.org/wiki/Writers_Guild_of_America) et a enseigné le Français au lycée de Lynwood, Californie.
