Andrew Lintott is retired Professor of Roman History at the University of Oxford and Emeritus Fellow of Worcester College, Oxford. He has written widely on the Roman Republic, including Violence in Republican Rome (1968, 2nd edn. 1999), Imperium Romanum (1993), The Roman Republic (2000), The Constitution of the Roman Republic (1999) and Cicero as Evidence: A Historian’s Companion (2008). He also co-edited volume IX of the Cambridge Ancient History volume, 2e (1994).
