Henry John Newbolt (1862-1938) was an English poet. He is best remembered for his lyrical Vitaï Lampada, which was used as propaganda during World War I. He also wrote Taken from the Enemy (1892), Admirals All (1897), and The Island Race (1898).
Norman Wilkinson (1878-1971) was a British painter, illustrator, and poster artist of naval scenes. He was the first to promote “dazzle” camouflage, used on ships during World War I. Wilkinson was also knighted and appointed a Commander of the British Empire in 1948.
