Dr M. Madhu, presently Principal Scientist and Head, ICAR-IISWC, Research Centre, Sunabeda-763 002, Koraput, Odisha, India. He has completed Ph.D. in Agronomy from University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS), GKVK, Bengaluru, Karnataka. Dr Madhu has vast experience of research, training and outreach in the field of soil & water conservation, watershed management, conservation agronomy, agroforestry, transfer of technology, HRD of field to senior level officers and other stakeholders. He was leader and associated in more than 20 consultancy projects related to Integrated Watershed Management and resource conservation-cum- livelihood programmes. He has to his credit more than 200 publications including research papers in reputed national and international journals, edited books, book chapters, manuals, technical reports and bulletins, symposium /workshop/seminar papers, popular articles, etc., and member of many professional bodies.
Dr Praveen Jakhar is presently working as a Senior Scientist (Agronomy) at ICAR-Central institute for women in Agriculture, Bhubaneswar. He did his B.Sc. (Hons.) and Masters from CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar and earned doctorate form ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi, India and joined ICAR Agricultural Research Service (ARS) in 2007. He has worked extensively in tribal areas of Odisha under the aegis of ICAR-IISWC, RC Koraput (2007-19). Dr. Jakhar specializes in Conservation Agronomy, Watershed Management and Technology Transfer activities. He has worked in different external as well as institute funded, collaborative research and consultancy projects as leader and associate. Dr. Jakhar has published more than 50 research papers in reputed national and international journals. Other publications include books edited books, chapters, popular articles and extension bulletins, etc.
Dr. Partha Pratim Adhikary, presently Senior Scientist (Soil Physics and SWC) at ICAR-IISWC, Research Centre, Sunabeda, Koraput (Odisha). He obtained his Master’s degree in Soil Science from Chaudhury Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar, Haryana and Ph.D. in Agricultural Physics from ICAR Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, India. Dr Adhikary has more than 100 publications to his credit which include research papers in journals of national and international repute, edited books, book chapters, popular articles, technology brochures, technical reports and bulletins, etc. His field of research work includes development of pedotransfer functions of soil hydraulic parameters for Indian soils, modelling of groundwater pollution, application of GIS and spatial variability for natural resource management, watershed management, soil erodibility factor, dynamics of shifting cultivation and prediction of stream flow under climate change scenario using SWAT.
Dr Gopal Kumar, born in Lakhisarai district of Bihar, completed his B.Sc. (Ag.) degree from Rajendra Agricultural University, PUSA, Bihar and Masters and Ph.D. Degrees in Agricultural Physics from IARI, New Delhi. He started his career as Scientist (Soil Phy, SWC) and presently posted as Senior Scientist at ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation, Dehradun. His significant contribution includes development of bamboo and Sapota based intervention for gully head, bank and bed stabilization and productive utilization of ravines, etc. He has authored 51 research papers in peer reviewed journals, 7 books, 17 book chapters, 15-popular articles, 6-training manuals, 5-bulletins 8-leaflets and is recipient of prestigious ICAR-Outstanding Inter-disciplinary team research award, Young Scientist award (IASWC), IASWC Gold medal, Outstanding scientists of SSN and Prof. P.D. Mistry Award (AAM).
Dr Ch. Jyotiprava Dash, presently working as a Scientist (SWCE) at ICAR-IISWC, Research Centre, Sunabeda, Koraput (Odisha). She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering from Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology, Bhubaneswar, Odisha. She obtained both her Master’s and Ph.D. degree in Agricultural Engineering with specialization in soil and water conservation engineering from ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, India. She has an experience of more than 10 years of research, training and extension in the field of soil and water conservation, watershed management, geostatistics, surface and groundwater modelling, remote sensing and GIS. Dr Dash has more than 60 publications to her credit which include research papers in journals of national and international repute, book chapters, popular articles, extension bulletins, technical reports and bulletins, e-publications, etc.
Dr Karma Beer, presently working as Scientist of Fruit science at ICAR- Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation, Research Centre, Sunabeda, Koraput, Odisha. He obtained his graduation and post-graduation degree from Narendra Dev University of Agriculture and Technology, Kumarganj, Ayodhya (Faizabad), Uttar Pradesh and Ph.D. from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. Dr Beer has edited 3 books and 10 research paper in peer reviewed international and national journals, apart from that he has published more than 20 popular articles in Hindi/English language. He had successfully coordinated 21 farmers’ training under Aspirational District Programmes and two summer practical training for B. Tech (Agril. Engg.) students. Dr Beer has conducted model training course for field functionary officer as a course director. He was also associated in consultancy projects related to Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) in six district of Odisha.
Dr D.C. Sahoo, is presently working as Principal Scientist (Land and Water Management Engineering) at ICAR-IISWC, Research Centre, Sunabeda, Koraput, Odisha. He obtained his Master’s degree in Soil and Water Conservation Engineering from Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology, Bhubaneswar and Ph.D. from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore. He is recipient of National Scholarship and Junior Research Fellowships during persuit of his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree. He has 18 years of experience working at different Research Centers of Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation and in other ICAR Institutes. He has worked in many institute funded, external funded and other collaborative research and consultancy projects as leader and associate. Dr Sahoo has more than 40 research papers in reputed national and international journals apart from being author of popular articles, Technical broachers, bulletins, Training manuals and book chapters.
Dr Debashis Mandal received M.Sc. degree in Soil Science with majors in Soil Chemistry from GBPUA&T, Pantnagar in 1992 and the Ph.D. degree on Physical Chemistry of Soil in 1994 from IARI, New Delhi. Debashis currently holds a renowned post of ICAR National Fellow with emphasis on Land Degradation since 2014 at the Faculty of ICAR-IISWC, Dehradun. Debashis was PI & Co-PI of various experiments in 20 research projects. Debashis worked as a visiting scientist at CMASC, at Ohio State University, Columbus, in 2013 and conducted research with Prof. Rattan Lal on soil erosion and carbon dynamics. In 2014, he worked on applied use of fallout radionuclides for assessing erosion induced carbon losses from various phases of erosion. Debashis has around 60 peer reviewed articles in scientific journals and was involved in the organisation of various national and international conferences. Presently his H-index is 14.
Dr P.K. Mishra was born on 12th June, 1956 at Puri in Odisha. He did his doctorate in Agricultutral Engineering (in collaboration with Univ. of Karlsuhe, Germany) from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur. He has an exemplary academic career as a student, researcher and a professional in Soil and Water Conservation Engineering. He has completed many national and international assignments during his professional career. He served as a Director at ICAR-IISWC, Dehradun and Project Coordinator (Dryland Research) at Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture (CRIDA), ICAR, Hyderabad. He has 220 publications to his credit including 64 research papers in National and International journals, 10 books, 39 book chapters, 29 papers in national and international proceedings, 8 popular articles, 17 bulletins and reports and 53 short communications. Dr. Mishra handled 20 consultancy and contract research (national and international) and programs during the last 20 years.
