My name is Robert H. Austin. I am a retired business executive and live in Bowling Green, Kentucky. I have been retired for the past eight years and have read many books during this time. I have always been interested in writing and having this opportunity to read more has increased my interest. The Shoebox is my first novel to publish. I was inspired to write this story for many reasons. But, the most important reason is because of the love my wife and I have for each other. We will be married fifty years in December of 2008. Our lives have been wonderful, and we have been blessed in so many ways. We married at an early age and our lives have been filled with many challenges and opportunities. Challenges we were able to overcome and build a strong relationship, including two children whom have given us four wonderful grandsons, Scott, Nick, Jeff and Greg. Most of the characters in The Shoebox express love and desire to overcome challenges and prove that love for others, with faith in God, will have a happy and rewarding life.
