Treachery lies in the heart of Eilidh Wood. Visions of doom haunt the night.
Murdo, the Mad God, has raised a mortal champion. The champion gathers an army to assault and conquer the Shrine of Equinox, empowered by the blessings granted by the incarnation of madness.
In opposition stand the bearers of Solstice and Equinox, Spears of the Stars: the human nobleman Cailean and the elven astrologer Lyan. With them, a handful of humans and elves defy Murdo. But even if these allies can set aside their lingering suspicions of each other, a dozen cannot easily defeat an army, even with both Spears of the Stars on their side.
Neither Eilidh Wood nor Tather will offer the aid the Spearbearers need. They are left with only one force on which to call.
