Sarah Hutton holds a chair at Aberystwyth University. Her main area of research is seventeenth century intellectual history, with a special interest in the Cambridge Platonists. Her publications include, Anne Conway. A Woman Philosopher (2004). Newton and Newtonianism (edited with James E. Force, 2004), Platonism and the English Imagination (edited with Anna Baldwin, 1994), and an edition of Ralph Cudworth’s Treatise Concerning Eternal and Immutable Morality (1996). She is Director of the series International Archives of the History of Ideas. Paul Schuurman took his Ph D degree at Keele University in 2000 under the supervision of Prof. G.A.J. Rogers and works as a Research Fellow at the Faculty of Philosophy of the Erasmus University Rotterdam. He has published on the logic, epistemology and philosophy of science of Locke and Descartes. His latest book is Ideas, Mental Faculties and Method. The New Logic of René Descartes and John Locke and its Reception in the Dutch Republic, 1630-1750. (Leiden: Brill, 2004).
