Tom Gill was born in South Georgia in 1937. He graduated from Blackshear High School in 1956 and immediately joined to the U.S. Army. In 1966, received a direct appointment to Warrant Officer and five months later began a one year tour of duty with the 1st Cavalry Division in Vietnam. Gill served as the division Crypto Security Officer and Division Forward Telecommunication Officer. In July 1968, he was selected to serve as a Staff Communications Officer with the White House Communication Agency. Gill served during the Johnson, Nixon, Ford and Carter administrations. He retired after twenty-three years of service in November 30, 1978.
