Sir Angus William-Parr, a member of parliament with gambling debts, engages in criminal activities with a ruthless gang, which unlawfully brings young girl migrants into the UK for the purpose of selling them into slavery and prostitution.
Metropolitan Police Chief Inspector Kirsty Woodfield is discreetly sent on attachment to the Home Office to investigate Sir Angus and determine if he has an alternative motive in attempting to cause the government embarrassment and lie about their immigration figures.
Kirsty enlists the help of Police Inspector John Kerr from the National Serious Crime Unit to put his life at risk by going undercover and infiltrating the criminal gang.
John, who has a boat the gang desperately need, has matrimonial difficulties. The criminals are made to believe because of this he has taken to drink and has been suspended from police duties in a plan to make him available to corruption.
