Fragments of others’ dreams—crumbling buildings, a looming shadow—bleed into her waking hours, mirroring themselves in the physical world with terrifying accuracy.
Joined by Russell Christian, a fellow technician whose logic is challenged by the escalating anomalies, they embark on a clandestine investigation.  What they uncover is a chilling feedback loop: the city’s fears, amplified and broadcast, are not just powering the metropolis, they’re shaping it.  A nightmare-born plague sweeps through the city, and the shadowy figure from Martha’s visions solidifies, a monstrous embodiment of collective fear.
Their search for answers leads them to Russell’s estranged mother, a key figure in the dream energy program, who reveals a terrifying truth: the energy isn’t merely a power source, it’s sentient, capable of manifesting the very fears it consumes.  As the city teeters on the brink of collapse, they discover a hidden fail-safe, a way to sever the connection between dream and reality, but it’s locked behind layers of security controlled by a corrupt elite.
Meanwhile, Elias Vance, a technician driven by a crippling gambling addiction, discovers a way to manipulate the dream feeds for his own gain, unknowingly accelerating the city’s descent into chaos.  Adding another layer of complexity, a secret society, the Lucid Collective, emerges from the shadows, manipulating the dream energy for their own enigmatic purposes.  They believe the city’s impending destruction is a necessary step towards a higher plane of existence.
