The Practice of the Presence of God is a classic Christian text by Brother Lawrence of the Resurrection. Born as Nicolas Herman in the early seventeenth century, Brother Lawrence entered the Order of Discalced Carmelites as a lay brother when he was twenty-six years old and took the religious name, ‘Lawrence of the Resurrection’.
