Tentang Penulis

Charles A. Eastman (1858–1939) was born in Dakota (Minnesota Sioux) on the Santee Reservation in Minnesota. A doctor who was active in politics, he committed his life to helping Native Americans. In 1891 the writer married Elaine Goodale, who collaborated with him on this project.
 
Elaine Goodale Eastman (1863-1953) was also an Indian activist. She and her sister were both published poets. Her final book of poems was entitled The Voice at Eve. She worked with her husband and together they raised six children.
