Giovanni Ottone is an Italian film critic and member of the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI). He currently contributes film criticism to Italian publications, including Vivilcinema, Cinecritica and the site xxxinterferencexxx.com. His areas of expertise include Latin American, Spanish, Turkish, Israeli and Scandinavian cinema. He is the author and co-author of Cinema and Migration in North and South America (2000); Argentinean Cinema in 1990s (2001); Brazilian Cinema”s Roots (2003); Terra Brasil 95–05. Brazilian Cinema Renaissance (2005); Contemporary Argentinean Cinema and Leonardo Favio”s Work (2006); España Cinema 2007: New Filmmakers and Old Maestros (2007); Argentina rodante – New Argentinean Cinema 2004-2008 (2008); and Winter”s Lights – Scandinavian Contemporary Cinema (2009). A Festival programmer, Giovanni Ottone is also a member of the Pesaro International Film Festival”s selection board.
