Published in 1922, Tales of the Unexpected gathers fifteen tales, including such classic stories as “The New Accelerator, ” in which a newly discovered elixir that enables individuals to move rapidly through time turns out to be both a blessing and a curse and “A Dream of Armageddon, ” a futuristic, anti-war tale of a man torn between his love for a woman and the political life he wants to abandon. Also included are “The Door in the Wall, ” “The Man Who Could Work Miracles, ” and “The Moth, ” among others.
