Jane Austen
Sense and Sensibility [EPUB ebook]

Dukung

One of the most famous novels of the great British writer, it had huge success already at the time of its release, dated 1811 and signed anonymous. The story of the two Dashwood sisters and their opposite character, also gives the book its title: the largest, Elinor of 19 years, represents the reason. The smallest, Marianne of 17, represents the feeling. The theme of the contrasting relationship between the two girls could be a reference to what Austen had to prove with her older sister, Cassandra. The authress takes the side of reason, but you will read these pages as a kind of parody of the romantic novel that went in fashion until the last years of the eighteenth century. The sisters are still dotted in an articulate and deep way, ranging from intelligence and musical talent of the older sister and the greater sincerity and ability to deeply love of the younger one. Moreover, even the secondary characters are outlined through the typical, irresistible irony of one of the greatest writers in the history of British literature. The story is always very popular with film and television, which have cyclically repeated adaptations untile the great success of the eponymous film directed by Ang Lee and featuring an excellent cast with Emma Thompson, Hugh Grant and Kate Winslet. Inside – as in all Fermento volumes – you will find the ‘Indicators’, to allow the reader an easy journey through the book.
