Christa Schuenke, geboren 1948 in Weimar, ist nach einem Dolmetscherstudium für die Sprachen Englisch und Französisch an der Karl-Marx-Universität, Leipzig, einer Tätigkeit als WTA an der Akademie der Wissenschaften der DDR, Zentralinstitut für Geschichte sowie einem Fernstudium der Philosophie an der Humboldt-Universität, Berlin seit 1981 frei- und hauptberuflich als literarische Übersetzerin aus dem Englischen tätig. Seither hat sie Übersetzungen von Werken nahezu aller literarischen Genres (Lyrik, Romane, Kurzprosa, Theaterstücke, Sachbücher mit geisteswissenschaftlicher Thematik) für zahlreiche Verlage in Deutschland, Österreich und der Schweiz angefertigt.
