Prof. Rama Shanker Verma is currently the director of Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology Allahabad, Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, India, and was a former professor of biotechnology, Indian Institute of Technology-Madras, India. Prof. Verma earned his Ph D in life sciences from the Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He has more than three decades of profound experience in both academic and industrial research. His remarkable research contribution led to more than 200 publications, 20 patents, 2 books, and several book chapters. He has supervised 23 Ph Ds and more than 50 MS/MTech students. His laboratory at the Indian Institute of Technology-Madras was actively involved in advanced molecular biology and stem cells research during his tenure. He has served as a visiting and adjunct professor for several institutions in India and abroad, such as Swinburne University of Technology, Australia, University of Madras, and Central University of Pondicherry. He has been conferred with various awards and fellowships including the prestigious UNESCO fellowship and the Genomic Pioneer Recognition Award from HUGO. He is an elected Fellow of Indian Academy of Science, India (FNASc), Fellow of the Biotech Research Society, India (FBRSI), and Fellow of Association of Microbiology of India (FEMI).
