Stanley Scott was born in Trinidad & Tobago in 1940. He lived in England from 1961 to 1991. He studied law at Holborn College of Law, Red Lion Square, London and at the Council of Legal Education, Gray’s Inn. For many years he worked as manager and Senior Advice Officer of London Borough of Haringey Community Law & Advice Bureau, Wood Green, London.
Between 1976 and 1983 he wrote a popular series of articles on legal and welfare rights for the West Indian World newspaper. He is a former chairman of the Management Committee of Tottenham Neighbourhood Law Centre, West Green Road.
