His work for the National Park Service led him to write and publish Great Smoky Mountains: The Story Behind the Scenery and in Pictures Everglades: The Continuing Story. Joyce Cox is a historian who joined with her husband to compile and edit History of Washington County Tennessee, a contribution to Tennessee’s bicentennial celebration by the Washington County Historical Association.
