Dr. K.V.Sundaram, Geographer and Planner, started his career as a lecturer at Alagappah University and received his D.Litt degree from University of Mysore in 1977. He was awarded the prestigious Senior Nuffield Fellowship from UK (1978-79) for his post-doctoral work in the Centre for South-Asian Studies from Cambridge University. His technical expertise covers Urban & Regional Planning, Economic and Human Resource Development. He worked with FAO, ESCAP, ICIMOD, CIRDAP, UNCRD and UNICEF in many Asian and African countries and with the Indian Planning Commission. He was also the resource person to World Bank, AIT (Bangkok), Karnataka Planning Board and India’s 10th Plan. He has published 23 books and 220 research papers and was recently honoured by his friends and colleagues by a book called Development Concerns in 21” Century. During his career he received a Life Time Achievement Award by Centenarian Trust (Chennai) and Bhoogal Ratna Award by MAGI. He was also felicitated at Banaras Hindu University, Centre for Earth Sciences (Thiruvananthapuram), and University of Allahabad and by the Mayor of Philippines (1973). As the Founder Chairman of Bhoovigyan Vikas Foundation, he worked towards developing Earth Care Policies in Third World Countries. At the age of 83 he still dreams of establishing a National Care Policy Institute.
