Started sailing at age 12 and through the years have had the privilege of being ship mates with some of the finest sailors in this hemisphere. From delivering sailboats up and down the eastern coast of the United States and South America, to yacht club racing from the Gulf of Maine.
I moved up in the ranks from being involved as muscle on wenches to being a helmsman on various Bermuda races.
Also, though the years, I have been involved in emergency repairs of halyards, sails, engines, to leaks and injuries while en route.
As in the book, I was involved in the BP Oil Spill Clean Up. While not sailing, it was still a sea-experience.
Lastly, I was taught and supervised by a Master Craftsman or Ship Wright on the proper maintenance and repair of wooden sailboats.
