Terrance Turtle is very bored with his tranquil life and craves excitement. When he visits his friend, Penelope Pelican, they decide to take an adventure to the bustling city. However, their plans take an unexpected turn when Penelope injures her leg, leaving Terrance to journey alone.
Along the way, he encounters some misfit companions: Beatrix the butterfly, Baxter the badger, and Oliver the owl. Together, they face the bustling city streets. However, they were not prepared to experience the chaos of fast cars with noisy horns; inedible, strange food; and towering buildings-all very overwhelming. After almost getting run over twice, Terrance and his friends find themselves frightened and out of their element. They yearn for the familiarity of home.
Upon returning, Terrance shares his experiences with Penelope, who reaffirms the value of their beautiful meadow. He realizes that while the city may look exciting, nothing compares to the comfort of home and being happy with what you already have.
