Dr. Weichun Yang received her B.E. degree in Instrumentation Science and Engineering from Huazhong Agricultural University, Wuhan, Hubei, China, in 2004, and the Ph.D. degree in Environmental Science from Nankai University, Tianjin, China, in 2009. Dr. Yang has worked in the School of Metallurgy and Environment of Central South University in 2009 and became a professor since 2017. Dr. Yang focuses on the research of remediation of heavy metal-contaminated soil. Her recent research interests include: ecological restoration of mining area, interaction of minerals and microbe, heavy metal-contaminated soil remediation materials, etc. Dr. Yang has published 76 peer-reviewed technical papers in international journals and conferences and two monographs, “Treatment and Ecological Restoration of Mining and Metallurgical Contaminated Sites” and “Theory and Technology of Microbial Treatment of Chromium Pollution.” Dr. Yang authorized 92 national invention patents (23 first inventors). Dr. Liyuan Chai is the director of the National Engineering Technology Research Center for Heavy Metal Pollution Prevention and Control. He is the professor at Central South University and the academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. Professor Liyuan Chai has devoted himself to the research in the field of non-ferrous metallurgy environmental engineering for decades. He invented a number of non-ferrous smelting pollution control and recycling technologies, such as clean metallurgy of arsenic-containing polymetallic materials, recycling of smelting waste acid, purification and reuse of heavy metal wastewater. These accomplishments have achieved large-scale promotion and application and promoted the industrial transformation, upgrading and green development of non-ferrous industry. He has won 2 second prizes of National Technological Invention Award, 1 second prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award, 8 first prizes of provincial and ministerial level scienceand technology awards, and Ho Leung Ho Lee Industrial Innovation Award. Dr. Zhihui Yang received her Ph.D. degrees in Plant and Environmental Science from Norwegian University of Life Sciences in 2006 and in Crop Planting and Cultivation from Hunan Agricultural University. She is the deputy director of Desert Mining Ecological Restoration Committee, Chinese Society for Desertification Control and Desertification Industry, and the professor in the School of Metallurgy and Environment of Central South University science 2009. She has been engaged in research on remediation of soil contaminated by heavy metals. She has won one of the second prize of the national scientific and technological progress award and two of the first prize of provincial and ministerial natural science/ technological progress awards. Dr. Feiping Zhao is an associate professor (supervisor for Ph.D. students) in the School of Metallurgy and Environment and a young scholar at Chinese National Engineering Research Centre for Control and Treatment of Heavy Metal Pollution. He obtained Ph.D. degree in LUT University in Finland. He has served as an associate editor of Frontiers in Environmental Chemistry and Young Editorial Boards of Rare Metals (JCR 1) and Transactions of Nonferrous Metals Society of China (JCR 1). He has been the winner of Hunan Outstanding Youth Fund since 2022. His research focuses on the environmental remediation and comprehensive utilization of non-ferrous resources. The scope of his work includes environmental functional adsorption materials, environmental photo/electrocatalyst materials, and advanced oxidation technology. Dr. Qi Liao received his B.E., M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Nankai University, Tianjin, China, in 2002, 2005, and 2012, respectively. He has worked in the School of Metallurgy and Environment of Central South University since 2012 and became an associate professor and supervisor for Ph.D. students since 2017. Dr. Liao focuses on the research of microbial ecology in the sites contaminated by heavy metals, remediation of heavy metal-contaminated soil and environmental health. He has published 52 peer-reviewed scientific papers in international journals and conferences and one book. He has also been authorized 23 national invention patents. Dr. Mengying Si received her M.E. degree in College of Environment and Resources from Xiangtan University, Xiangtan, China, in 2016 and the Ph.D. degree in Institute of Environmental Science and Engineering from School Central South University, Changsha, China, in 2019. Since Nov. 2013, Dr. Si has been in School of Metallurgy and Environment, Central South University, as a lecturer. Dr. Si focuses on the remediation of heavy metal-contaminated soil. Her recent research interests include: environmental functional stabilization materials, biomineralization, interface behavior of multimedia, microbial remediation, etc. Since 2023, Dr. Si has published more than 20 peer-reviewed technical papers in international journals. She served as a reviewer of several international journals.
