Going for the Gold is an all-season story, but it does have a seasonal focus on Easter folk customs involving coloring eggs. It can appeal to all levelschildren and adults alike. It also has a teaching-language component instructive for teachers of English whether students are youngsters learning the language or adults learning English as a second language.

Shepherd) is a professor at Millersville University of Pennsylvania in the Pennsylvania System of Higher Education, teaching in the Division of Humanities and Social Sciences. Dr. Sheaffer holds a teaching certificate for teaching English to nonnative speakers with experience in Italy and Austria, a BSEd in English, and graduate degrees in English literature and in art history. Dr. Sheaffer is also a published poet and a professional musician.
