Theodore Panayotou is a fellow of the Harvard Institute of International Developm(HIID) and lecturer in the Departmof Economics at Harvard University. He is also a member of the Center for Tropical Forest Science. A specialist in environmental and resource economics, environmental policy analysis, and developmeconomics, Dr. Panayotou has advised governments and institutes in Asia, Africa, and Eastern Europe as well as numerous other national and international institutions, on the interactions between the natural resource base and economic development. He received the 1991 Distinguished AchievemAward of the Society for Conservation Biology for his wide-ranging efforts to use economic analysis as a tool for conservation.
