Jessica Ullrich (Dr. phil) ist Wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin an der Philosophischen Fakultät der Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen. Zuvor war sie Leiterin der Kunstvermittlung im Kunstpalais Erlangen. Sie kuratierte diverse Ausstellungen von zeitgenössischer Skulptur und Fotografie. Sie ist Mitglied des Senior Editorial Board von Antennae, Journal for Nature in the Visual Arts, Repräsentantin und Board-Mitglied von Minding Animals Germany und Mitglied von Bündnis für Mensch und Tier, München, ferner von Animalität und Ästhetik Berlin, der Forschungsinitiative Tiertheorie (Fi TT), CLAS (Cultural Literary Animal Studies) an der Universität Würzburg und Animals in History, einer von den Universitäten Konstanz, Wien und Zürich getragenen Gemeinschaftsinitiative. Ullrich studierte Kunstgeschichte, Kunstpädagogik und Germanistik in Frankfurt am Main sowie Kultur- und Medienmanagement in Berlin. Sie promovierte zu dem Thema “Wachs als ästhetisches Material. Körper und Körperfragmente in der Wachsbildnerei am Ende des 20. Jahrhunderts und ihre kulturhistorischen Einflüsse”. Im Kontext der Human Animal Studies veröffentlichte sie u.a. gemeinsam mit Friedrich Weltzien und Heike Fuhlbrügge den Sammelband Ich, das Tier. Tiere als Persönlichkeiten in der Kulturgeschichte (Reimer 2008).
