Zweig is very good at making unique observation and description of social themes, especially in penetrating into people’s inner heart, and carrying out an almost cruel spiritual stripping and psychological analysis on human nature and the shadow of human soul. Its depth and accuracy are almost incomparable. The Biography of Three Masters was written by Zweig, a unique great novelist of the 19th century. He wrote this book for Balzac, Dickens and Dostoevsky. The book goes straight to the essence and comments on and compares the writing styles and thoughts of the three literary masters. By analyzing the inner hearts of the biographer and interpreting the inevitability of their fates, Zweig created "a Balzac character, a Dickens character and a Dostoevsky character". This book is not only "a biography of unique great novelists" in the 19th century, but also a unique "novelist’s psychology" work.
