The Sussuration Within’ is a short story that blends the ethereal charm of a mystical idea with fantasy and surrealism in an interestingly archaic framework. A narrative that sets itself apart from the ‘realities’ of the conventions and reconstructs the concepts of generic story-telling. A good dose of anthropomorphism hikes up the anxiety levels that surround Sheera, a girl from an unspecified age, who needs poison potions for sustenance. It makes her infamous and much feared, nonetheless inevitable. The story explores the seemingly ‘uncommon’ and redefines the boundaries of ‘common’. Love, betrayal and liaison of an incredible nature make up a thoroughly enjoyable read. It explores the boundaries of common thoughts and understandings, relegates the seemingly simple story to the background, making way for new symbolisms, introspection and deeper perceptions.
