Joanne Zienty was born in Chicago, Illinois. She is the winner of the 2014 Soon to Be Famous Illinois Author Project™ Award for her debut novel, The Things We Save, for which she was also named a semi-finalist in the Publisher’s Weekly Book Life Prize for Fiction. She studied English Language and Literature at the University of Chicago, earned her teaching certification at Roosevelt University, and her Master’s in Library and Information Science at Dominican University. When she’s not writing, she uses her position and influence as a teacher/librarian to help her young students grow as readers and find their voices as writers. She lives in Wheaton, Illinois with her husband and a very ornery cat.
