The Picts were an ancient nation who ruled most of northern and eastern Scotland during the Dark Ages. Despite their historical importance, they remain shrouded in myth and misconception. Tim Clarkson gained a Ph D in medieval history (2003) from the University of Manchester and is a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland. He is the author of many books on medieval history including Scotland’s Merlin, The Picts: A History, The Makers of Scotland and Aethelflaed: Lady of the Mercians.
