As artists, researchers and art educators, four colleagues in art education at Concordia University collaborated in the narrative and relational process of examining the self in order to connect with others, exploring life writing as a form of research/creation. Trish Osler paints en plein air. Teaching visual art and art history for fifteen years, she draws on aspects of her identity as a/r/tographer to design and implement approaches to creative thinking and learning. Her transdisciplinary practice aims to deepen understanding and awareness of arts-based approaches to critical thinking and focuses on post-human, new materialist theory. Through embodied engagement with the environment and through artistic inquiry, her work demonstrates the becoming empowerment and reciprocity of place-based art making.
