This book is about the daily lifestyle of a true Jamaican country child from earlier times and is still present in the rural parts of Jamaica today. It brings back real memories to most Caribbean nationalities who have migrated abroad from earlier years to present and might have forgotten or even often times reminisce on those days.
It brings laughter and history all at once. It is also a tribute to the many peoples that I have come in contact with in this Sojourn including Harry Belafonte, Monty Alexander, Dr. Julius Garvey son of one of our Jamaican national hero. Pioneers such as Cleveland Samuel Reid, Alonzo Smith, and Narciso F. Airey.
It is also a compilation of English poems which depicts our connection to our multi-cultural past Out Of Many One People. It is also a thank you to my family and friends to whom I am extremely grateful.
About the author
Audiences in Connecticut and the New York areas, have been fortunate to have in our midst a Jamaican entertainer, Janice Hart, whose performances many agrees could easily match that of Jamaican Icon Hon Louise Bennett. In fact, it is the belief of many that Hart who performs as “Miss Matty Lou.”
Janice resides in USA and has kept the Jamaican culture alive. She is a phenomenal storyteller, poet, keynote speaker and diversity consultant-a true renaissance woman
Janice, who thrills the audience wherever she performs, and has appeared on several television shows on CPTV, WFSB and WTNH. Several articles have been published about her in the Jamaica overseas Gleaner and other local US paper. Janice has been an invited guest to the White House during Caribbean Heritage month and performed one of her famous poems titled, “I am so glad you came.”
