About the author

Our cabin has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. My parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters, cousins and friends have been making the trip to Oscoda to spend time in the little log cabin since the mid 1940s. We all make the trip for different reasons, but our trips have two things in common; we hate to leave and we can’t wait to go back.
I became fascinated with the history of our cabin after looking through old black and white photos and having lengthy conversations with my aunts and my mother, who were all young girls when the cabin was being built. One afternoon, I decided I would try and write it all down for us and for generations of cabin-goers to come. The memories and stories that I gathered speak of an unbreakable family bond, humor, adventure, discovery, peace, warmth, friendship and love.
Currently I live in Farmington Hills in southeast Michigan and make the trip to Oscoda and the Au Sable River as often as possible. I go alone, I go with family or friends, and always with a pet or two. While up north I enjoy jogs along the river, photographing the incredible beauty of the forest and the river, trying new recipes on the old cabin stove, and finishing a book or two. Back home I spend my free time with friends and family, reading, trying new restaurants, and volunteering.
