Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. Schlegel, who has printed, in the transactions of the Batavian Society of Arts and Sciences, 1865, an excellent translation, under the title of Geschiedenis van het gebloemde Brief Pa pier, has also avoided the metrical form of the original, which necessarily gives a certain stiff ness to the style. He has adopted the com mon narrative form.
