John Lawrence started to write short stories whilst still at school, even winning a prize or two. Now into retirement, he has the time to put down on paper the stories rattling around in his head. In revenge, John brings to life everyone’s need to seek retribution when a perceived injustice has been committed against you. The author has a good grasp of tension building, letting the details of Bobby’s past slowly unfold. The writing is crisp, and there is a sense of melancholy that surrounds Bobby, which makes the longing for revenge believable and palatable. Lawrence has the lively imagination of an author who could craft a good cat-and-mouse tale -Blue Ink Review
