About the author

Katherine Breward is an Associate Professor at the University of Winnipeg in the Department of Business and Economics. She holds undergraduate degrees in sociology and adult education, an MBA, and a Ph D in Organizational Behaviour from the Richard Ivey School of Business (Western University). Dr. Breward’s research focuses on labour market entry for historically disadvantaged populations with a particular focus on disability accommodation and addressing non-conscious bias and structural barriers to full workplace inclusion. As a person with autism, Dr. Breward is especially interested in the inclusion of neurodiverse workers. She teaches a range of human resource and organizational behaviour courses, including her signature course “Leadership and Fairness in Complex Organizations.” When not working, Dr. Breward enjoys immersing herself in inclusive science fiction and fantasy novels, attending to her fruit orchard, and photographing, sorting, and categorizing every animal, plant, and insect she sees.
