Published in 1901, this collection is characterized by its playful tone and moral lessons. Released ten years after, ‘The Sea Fairies’ represents Baum’s attempt to create a new fantasy world apart from Oz. The narrative revolves around a young girl, nicknamed Trot, and her friend, Cap’n Bill, who embark on an underwater adventure after being invited by a mermaid named Princess Clia.
