Dr. Martijn Icks ist Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter an der Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf. Zuvor arbeitete er am Forschungsprojekt “Making and Unmalking the Emperor” an der Universität Heidelberg. Seine Promotion über den Kaiser Elegabal schloss er 2008 cum laude an der Universität Nijmegen ab und war daraufhin ebendort als Dozent für Geschichte und Literaturstudien tätig. Seine Forschungsschwerpunkte sind die Selbstdarstellung und literarische Repräsentation von römische Kaisern sowie deren Nachleben in Kunst und Literatur.
