About the author
Mary Antin (1881-1949) was an American writer and immigration activist. She is best known for her autobiography, The Promised Land, which describes her struggle to assimilate into American culture after emigrating from Poland with her family at the age of thirteen. She went on to actively support the Progressive Party.
